An apprenticeship in the building and construction industry or related sectors, provides the opportunity to undertake structured learning, formal study with a registered training Organisation, whilst combining paid on the job workplace experience.
Apprenticeships provide a combination of theoretical and hands on practical experience and are highly valued by employers across the traditional building trades, e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. together with new and emerging industries and professions.
An apprenticeship usually consist of 3.5 - 4 years duration providing apprentices with the opportunity to progressively build on their skills development resulting in a nationally recognised qualification upon completion. This qualification demonstrates the apprentice's progress to completion, providing evidence of the on job skills obtained and the underpinning knowledge necessary and are highly regarded by industry professionals and employers.
